Boon Lay Secondary School (BLSS) was established in 1977 as a co-educational, double-session school with only 13 classes. It was officially opened by Mr Ngeow Pack Hua, MP for Boon Lay on 2nd August 1979.
Starting with two main mediums of instruction, English and Chinese, the school became a solely-English medium school in 1988 and turned single-session in 2000.
It re-located to its new premises at Jurong West in 1999. Situated in the midst of a new flourishing HDB neighbourhood in the west, the new premises include a state-of-the-art library, well-equipped special rooms and IT-enabled classrooms among other modern facilities.
